Snowball Studios is where art speaks to the soul of Mumbai
Tucked away in the heart of South Mumbai, Snowball Studios invites you into an experience that transcends the usual gallery visit. Much more than a venue, the studio is a journey through diverse realms of artistic expression. Showcasing renowned names and fresh voices alike, the space pulses with creativity, offering a window into the minds of artists who span both contemporary and traditional art forms.
Art is alive and well with Snowball Studios
In a short time, Snowball Studios has created a niche for itself in the space of Immersive Art. At the Art Mumbai fair this November, the gallery presented Vichitra, a live immersive art exhibit by artist Tejal Patni. Vichitra was met with an astonishing response, attracting an audience of around 800 people witnessing the show daily. The gallery also presented legendary artist Bhupal Ramnathkar’s sculpture as an exhibit at the fair.

Snowball Studios plays host to Mūḷ Māthī from the roots
Snowball Studios is the side venue for another Indian-art-meets-Dior event. In 2022, Chiuri had commissioned Chanakya to create large-scale, hand-embroidered textile panels of the artworks of New Delhi-based artists Madhvi and Manu Parekh. These were then installed as backdrops to Dior’s Spring/Summer 2022 show at Musée Rodin in Paris. These works make their way to India for the first time, for a month-long showcase called ‘Mul-mathi’, curated by Asia Society India Centre. Open to all, the panels capture in thread the intense colours and bold brushstrokes of the Parekh duo’s paintings.
Reflections – BHUPAL RAMNATHKAR
The immersive photography exhibition Reflections by Bhupal Ramnathkar has been in the making for 40 years.
Although Mr. Ramnathkar pursued advertising and design as his profession, photography remained his passion.
Reflections is one of many series of photographs taken by Mr. Ramnathkar over several visits to different parts of Europe. His visual aesthetic sensibility challenges the norm by presenting ordinary objects and subjects in unusual ways with unexpected twists.
According to Mr. Ramnathkar, viewers must experience the exhibition in person to fully appreciate the photographs’ visual impact and let them speak for themselves.
Infinite Light – PARESH MAITY
‘Infinite Light’ was a major and multi-genre exhibition of the work of the renowned artist Paresh Maity. Spread over a period of 5 months, over the 4 metro cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bangalore, this exhibition brought together the various art forms that Paresh has explored during his artistic journey.
The vast repertoire of artworks on display covered a time frame from the 1990’s to his most recent creations, each one bearing his signature strength and mastery over medium and colour, combining elements of paintings, large scale installations, sculpture, theatre and soundscape.
The Mumbai chapter, which opened on 4th December ’22 and spanned a period of 40 days was held at an off-site venue, Snowball Studios in Upper Worli. The mammoth exhibition was a show of the kind that, neither in scale nor grandeur, India has witnessed before.
Snowball Studios to set-up Film City in Gharog, Shimla
The Himachal Pradesh government has allotted 2.0229 hectares to Snowball Studios Pvt Ltd to set up state- of-the art studios and open locations at Gharog near Ganaghat.
The film industry has been growing steadily in India, and Himachal Pradesh has been a popular location for movie shoots. However, with the establishment of Snowball Studios’ Film City in Gharog, Shimla, the state is likely to witness an unprecedented surge in film production.
The film city project will not only create a dedicated space for film shoots but also provide state-of-the-art infrastructure for post-production work. This will enable filmmakers to complete their projects within the state, saving time and money on travel and accommodation.
Furthermore, the establishment of the film city is likely to provide a significant boost to the state’s economy by opening new avenues for employment. From construction workers to actors, technicians, and support staff, the film industry has the potential to generate a wide range of job opportunities.
